This film was one of the longest productions Ive had all year. It was for my friend's (Alek Rost) final for his Intro To Video Production class at SCAD, but we treated it more like it was our own personal project. It was shot on a Canon GL 2 over the time of two weeks. We ended up with about 1 1/2 - 2 hours of footage. In the beginning this narrative was really only going to be about five minutes long, but after going through the footage after our first weekend of production, we decided to keep adding to it which helped it out a whole lot. It gave us more time to spred out the story line and it gave us more to work with.

The post-production is what took the longest time. At first we were trying to put everything together as fast as we could for Alek's final, but we didnt have enough time. So we decided to hold off on trying to do it all our selves and bring in more people to help us out like Alex Jansen, Nick Cochran, and Dan Solomon. Dan Solomon drew the murals that the main characters tagged and Alex Jansen digitally composited it all for us. Nick Cochran, my roommate during my freshmen year, re-did all of the sound and added in his own sound effects. He really helped out with the quality of the film.

The hardest part of this project was trying to make the ending seem like it was turning night into morning. Since we couldnt get that many people to act in our project at the crack of dawn, we had to shoot the whole thing backwards. We starting shooting at around 7 or 8 pm for the last shot and continued from then on for the other shots. We shot each shot starting at the ending and working our way backwards until the shot where the main actor (Kyle Hopkins) walks up to the train car. It was tough to try to get everything together from making sure the lighting was good to making sure everyone remember where their mark was, but for the most part I think it turned out nice. It was quite the learning experience.

Also, while filming, several homeless men would come up to us to ask us what we were doing as well as bum for some money. This guy was nice enough to give us alittle dance for our project. His name was Raymond. Click here to watch.
